Tetsujin 28 GO!
Everyones harping on about the full scale Gundam in Tokyo but how come i've only just heard about this full scale Tetsujin 28 GO in Kobe?

Nekojiru (Cat Soup)
Takemitsu Zamurai

Takemitsu Zamurai by Taiyō Matsumoto (Tekkonkinktreet) is an original take on the somewhat tired Samurai genre. The art work crosses traditional japanese art with a modern style that are akin to Brittish illustrators like Blake, Steadman and Scarfe.
it's not been released in the west so GO READ IT HERE

Friend Says It's Good..

Just finished this Manga and basically its AMAZING. it did drag in parts but all in all a very solid 22 volumes.
"Failed rock musician Kenji's memories of his past come rushing back when one of his childhood friends mysteriously commits suicide. Could this new death be related to the rise of a bizarre new cult that's been implicated in several other murders and disappearances? Determined to dig deeper, Kenji reunites with some of his old buddies in the hope of learning the truth behind it all"
it's a thriller of epic proportions with lots of classic Manga and 60's/70's rock references. think Park Chan-wook meets Katsuhiro Otomo and you're on the right track. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei
Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei (The Tatami Galaxy) is the latest offering from Masaaki YUASA the man behind Mindgame, Cat Soup and Noise Man Insect so you can expect lots of great animation and a very healthy dose of artistic surrealness. The only downside is that the main character talks at a very high speed so unless you having lightning quick reading skills or are fluent in japanese you may find it hard taking in the dialog and not missing out on the lovely animations

RPG A GO GO
The Japanese love a good RPG and so do i!
First up we have Level 5 (Dragon Quest) and Studio Ghibli's Ninokuni. i can't possibly see how this game will be bad in anyway!

Trailer....
Next we have Mistwalker's Last Story for the Wii. looks amazing, hopefully it'll live up to it's expectations as the head Designer
Hironobu Sakaguchi was also behind the original Final Fantasy games and Chrono Trigger.

And lastly the latest in the Blue Dragon series... Awakened Shadow.

Gantz Movie
Gantz is a great Seinen Manga published in Young Jump however the trailer for the up and coming movie looks like it's made by students who spent what little budget they had on fireworks...

Gundam Cafe

A new Gundam Themed cafe is opening in (yes you guessed it) Akihabara
"The 60-seat, 144.2-square-meter (about 1550-square-foot) café will serve an exclusive Jaburo Coffee blend made from South American coffee beans, as well as Gun-Pla-yaki — a large-sized, fried take-out dish modeled after the very first 1/144 Gundam plastic model kit ever sold. The company will also use the café to sell and spread the word on the newest merchandise and works from its 31-year-old robot anime franchise"
Nakano Broadway
Nakano Broadway is the absolute meccha of japanese collectable's. 4 floors of independent shop's and various Mandarake outlet's covering everything from original anime cell's, Manga, Cosplay and a whole lotta toys! if you're in Japan this is a must see and pretty easy to find, if your heading to the Ghibli Museum it's on the same line so check it out!
Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road For The WII
before we get to see Dragonquest X, Square Enix are releasing the popular arcade game first, although i very much doubt they will bother releasing this in the west as it is a card based game.
*sigh*
Panson Works
One Piece!

writing such a long story has got to be tough, even masters like Akira Toriyama clutched at straws during Dragonball, and most manga starts to fizzle out after 100 chapters, however Eiichiro Oda has somehow created a story that just goes from strength to strength even after 581 chapters (and counting) . most people are put off by the artwork and premise claiming it to be aimed at children however this is hogwash and feature's some of the most mature content i have ever witnessed.
The Anime (for the most part) does a great job and the voice actors are absolutely brilliant, and if your playing catch up i suggest you skip the filler story arcs so as not to taint the experience
i could go on and on about how fantastic this story is but in short it'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry and it'll make you punch the air and shout "GO LUFFYYYYYY" so you'll just have to trust me that this is not only the best manga ever written but easily one of the greatest story's ever told and it's not even over!
